Good News - New Equipment For Saddleworth NBO Team (RTC Clean up) |
||
|
In Saddleworth, we deal with a high number of road traffic collisions (RTCs), often linked to speeding and a lack of respect for local roads by some motorists. There have been and are planned improvements to our roads, such as upgraded signage, refreshed road markings, and future speed‑camera installations. My Team and I will continue to carry out speed‑awareness and enforcement days.
When dealing with RTCs, our team has not previously been equipped to clear debris from the carriageway. This meant we relied heavily on OMBC and the Highways Department and even local residents for road clean‑ups.
I’m pleased to share that, thanks to our strong partnership with the Local Authority, the Community Safety Officer has now provided equipment for our team to use. This means we can clear RTC scenes ourselves and reopen roads much more quickly than before.
When held at a temporary road closure/ counter-flow, please be patient and allow my team and I to complete our investigations and ensure the safety of all involved/ clean up of the road. This will assist us greatly in the ability to re-open the road far more quickly.
Regards PS 1650 Andy Holian - Saddleworth & Lees NBO Sergeant.
