Reports of a gun found in Springfield Park 10/04/2026

We are aware of an incident in Springfield Park where a member of the public reported finding a suspected firearm in a bush.

Officers attended promptly and confirmed the item resembled a blank‑firing pistol. A specialist firearms unit attended and has made the item safe. The firearm has been seized and will now undergo forensic examination.

There is currently no information to indicate how long the item had been in the location. lines of enquiry are being conducted to identify who may have left it there.

At this time, there is no ongoing threat to the public, and we would like to reassure local residents that appropriate action was taken quickly.
