Criminal Damage - Marske Valley Gardens

Dear Resident

Cleveland Police recently received report of deliberate damage being caused within the Valley Gardens where a tree was found to have had its trunk almost fully cut through by either a handsaw or chainsaw.  

This resulted in the tree being left in a dangerous state were it could have snapped at any point and potentially hurt somebody walking by.  As a result of this, Redcar Council have had no option but to remove the tree entirely.

Investigation into the damage is ongoing but If anybody has any information regarding this please contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting the reference number SE26067706

Officers also kindly request that residents refrain from speculating and naming people on social media as doing so may result in drawing adverse and unwanted attention to an innocent member of our community.  There is also no evidence to suggest that the named party is responsible or connected to this incident.
