Dear Resident,

Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be at the National Trust Car park Rhosilli on Tuesday 28th July between 2-4pm.They will be providing advice in relation to :-Operation Seabird

A UK-wide partnership initiative and Police campaign aimed at protecting coastal wildlife from disturbance caused by recreational activities like boating, jet skiing, and, notably, dog walking. Established in 2020 near Flamborough Head, it focuses on education and engagement to ensure marine life can rest, breed, and thrive, rather than relying solely on enforcement.

Key Aspects of Operation Seabird:

Purpose: To tackle marine coastal wildlife crime, anti-social behaviour, and unintentional disturbance.

Focus Areas: Protecting breeding seabirds, seals, whales, dolphins, and porpoises from disturbance.

Method: Engaging with the public at coastal locations, educating on how to avoid disturbing wildlife, and encouraging responsible behaviour.

Key Partners: Involves partnerships with the RSPCA, local police forces (e.g., North Wales, South Wales), and conservation organizations.

How to Help/Report:

Keep a safe distance from marine life and nesting birds.

Keep dogs on leads in sensitive coastal areas.

Report significant disturbances to the police via 101 or the relevant local authority.
