A brief recap.. |

|
To Wednesfield and Heath Town residents , West Midlands Police (WMP) and the WMnow community alert system currently focus on several local priorities, including anti-social behaviour hotspots and "snatch" thefts. Home & Property Security Recent alerts emphasize securing entry points, especially as residents spend more time in gardens. "Lock Up, even when in": Opportunist thieves often target rear patio doors or open windows while residents are in other parts of the house. "Lift, Lock, Remove": For UPVC doors, ensure you lift the handle and turn the key to fully engage the multi-point locking system. Garden Tool Safety: Do not leave ladders or tools (like spades) out in the garden. These are frequently used by burglars to force entry into your own home. Anti-Fishing: Keep house and car keys away from letterboxes and cat flaps to prevent thieves from "fishing" for them using poles. Out and About: "Love Your Phone" A specific campaign is active in 2026 to combat street robbery and phone snatching in the area. Look Up, Look Out: Stay aware of your surroundings, particularly for individuals on bikes or e-scooters who may attempt a snatch theft while you are distracted. Be Discreet: Avoid leaving your phone on tables in cafes or using it near the roadside where it is easily accessible to passers by. Digital Safety: Use two-factor authentication on your devices and keep a record of your phone’s IMEI number to help police track it if stolen.
Local Hotspots & Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Police have stepped up patrols in specific areas due to persistent ASB reports as of April 2026: : Frequent high-visibility patrols are in place to deter large groups and retail crime. A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is currently active to help officers manage disruption. Crossways Shopping Centre (Heath Town) : Joint patrols with council ASB teams are active, with Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) being issued to repeat offenders. Off-Road Bikes: Nuisance bikes are a priority in Wednesfield North and South. Residents are encouraged to report sightings of these vehicles to assist with ongoing seizures.
Upcoming Community Meetings You can meet local officers for personalized advice at these upcoming events: Heath Town Surgery: Tuesday, 21 April 2026, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Stratton Street Community Centre, Heath Town.
