Recovered stolen vehicle - Royal Victoria

Dear Residents,

During regular patrols PCSO Imran SAEED had located a stolen vehicle from an underground car park which was left abandoned. The vehicle was inspected and returned to their rightful owner. Vehicles at times are stolen and left in remote locations waiting to see if trackers are fitted before being picked up again and then used in further crime or sold.

We would like to highlight the ongoing issue of technologically facilitated vehicle thefts. In order to prevent keyless motor vehicle thefts, owners should take a few practical solutions;

Store keyless fobs in signal-blocking (faraday) pouches at home

To prevent thieves from amplifying the signal.

Avoid leaving keys near doors or windows

Consider disabling keyless entry if your vehicle allows it

Physical deterrants like steering wheel locks can still be effective, even for modern cars

Keeping your vehicle software updated

Installing dash cams within your vehicles are also deterrants

Parking in well-lit, secure areas preferably with CCTV or Door Bell cameras covering your vehicle also reduces risk.

Either of these few things may be the one thing that would make thieves think twice before attempting to steal your vehicle.
