Hoax Calling |
||
|
We are reminding residents that prank calls, hoax reports, call fraud and persistent nuisance calls to the police are criminal offences.
Call fraud includes making dishonest or misleading calls, impersonating the police or other authorities, making false reports, or calling with the intent to cause disruption or trigger an unnecessary response.
These calls waste valuable police time and prevent us from responding quickly to genuine emergencies. Anyone found making such calls may face investigation, arrest, prosecution, fines, a criminal record or imprisonment.
Please only call 999 in a genuine emergency where life is at risk or a crime is happening now. For non‑urgent matters, use 101 or report online.
The police is there to help the community.
Think before you dial.
Help us protect those who truly need help.
