Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
Reported Crime and Appeals
We have received 2 reports of ongoing incidents on Ratcliffe Road and Freeman’s Lane, where groups of youths have targeted a couple of residents with “knock door run” and behaved in a general concerning manner, causing alarm and distress to individuals as well as the wider community. As a result of work completed, we have identified a total of 11 youths, completed home visits, calls to parents, and used the anti-social behaviour incremental approach to deal with those involved. Thankfully, all parents involved were very supportive of Police action and hopefully, the work done as well as parent input, will prevent any further issues.
Whilst some of this behaviour may well just be kids being kids, it also has to be understood that repeated targeting of addresses can be extremely upsetting and unsettling for particularly elderly residents. This type of behaviour can also escalate very quickly from a knock at the door, to criminal damage, assaults and much more.
Our key messages to those involved, and a good general message to our younger residents, is to consider the impact of your behaviour whilst out and about, consider how your actions could be perceived and have respect for your surroundings and those that live here. We have booked in some very targeted work over the coming weeks at our local schools to address these types of issues.
We have received reports of an ongoing smell of Cannabis on Woodland Avenue. We have been in the area, completing door knocks, and looking to deal with anyone involved in this ongoing nuisance. Anti-social behaviour can be reported either here Report anti-social behaviour | Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council or Report antisocial behaviour | Leicestershire Police
We have just received a report of a residential burglary on Victoria Road, sometime between the 15th and 16th. The Rear door was damaged. As the report is just coming in, we have limited details but please be aware of this if you are leaving your property for any length of time. LEP-160426-0603.
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
As above, we have spent a lot of time dealing with the youth related anti-social behaviour. We have also been completing targeted patrols, dealt with some neighbour issues, conducted enquiries for an animal welfare issue which thankfully, was not as reported.
We have also completed a visit to the Amazon Warehouse to speak to staff about a range of issues, but we tried to focus on road safety issues and E-Scooters (illegal). We spoke to lots of employees and hopefully ensured that people are now aware of the rules around E-scooters.
Visit completed to the Three Pots post office for our monthly beat surgery. As usual, it was a good event where we spoke to residents around a range of issues.
Report of a dangerously parked/dumped vehicle on Woodland Avenue. We attended and removed the vehicle. It was a bit of a noisy removal at that time of night so apologies if you live near this area.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Please continue to be mindful of theft offences such as vehicle crime and residential burglary. Whilst the crime numbers have been fairly low over recent weeks and months, one crime is too many. Secure your vehicle, jewellery and home, to give opportunistic criminals less chance of succeeding.
You may or may not have received a request to complete the confidence survey for April. We would really appreciate if you could complete this survey if you haven't already, as the more people that complete it, the better picture we get of your thoughts. Thank you and take care.
