Hello Custom House
Welcome to this week’s street crime update. Please read on for the latest headlines from the streets of Custom House.
Criminal Damage 12/04/26 - Squatters had taken residence in the old Richard House Hospice in Richard House Drive. They caused damage to the property and have now left the site.
Fly Tipping 13/04/26 - A vehicle was seen dumping refuse in Devonshire Road. Our very own PC Tatham and Newham Council are on the case.
Robbery 11/04/26 – After a traffic collision near Forty Acre Lane, one group surrounded another and stole two phones and a necklace from them. It is possible that this may have been planned attack or parties knew each other. The facts were hard to ascertain as the victims were reluctant to elaborate on the event and were not willing to support a criminal prosecution.
Theft From a Person 09/04/26 – A 35-year-old man had his phone snatched from his hand as he was walking down an alleyway next to Canning Town Recreation Ground. The suspect was all dressed in black. CCTV enquiries are underway.
Theft of a Vehicle 09/04/26 – A white Nissan Juke was stolen overnight whilst parked in Woodcocks. 09/04/26 – A grey Nissan Juke was stolen just before midnight whilst parked in Nottingham Avenue. Both vehicles are still missing.
Theft 09/04/26 – Parcels stolen from outside an address in Mortlake Road. There is CCTV and the investigation is ongoing. 12/04/26 – And a rental e-bike was stolen from Colman Road.
That’s all the street crime this week.
Whilst I have you here, I would like to address a concern brought to my attention. I was asked recently about the crimes that I don’t post about, specifically shoplifting. I promise that there is no political or conspiratorial reason behind this. I simply don’t want to advertise what venues get targeted more than others as this may have a negative impact on the business & could encourage further thefts. I only post the crimes that cause concern and have an affect on the community. I also don’t post about domestics (for obvious reasons) or anything where the crime is personal and Suspect and Victim know each other in some way. I will continue to send out bulletins if there is a major incident or increased police presence to a specific area and let you know if there is a new phone or mail scam that I hear of.
I’m happy to answer questions here if you have them or come see me face to face at the next ward panel meeting. The next one is 23rd April 6pm at Shipman Youth Zone I’ll send out a message over the next couple of days explaining what a Ward Panel actually is.
Until Next Week Be Good, Have Fun & Stay Safe

P.S. There were 2 shopliftings reported this week. Only one of which was successful. | ||
