📞 Scam Phone Calls – Awareness & Prevention

Good afternoon. We are continuing to receive reports from residents about a high volume of scam phone calls 📈.

📵 Phone scams (also known as phishing) involve fraudsters contacting you by phone to trick you into revealing personal or financial information, or to pressure you into sending money. These calls can appear very convincing and may use number spoofing to look like they are coming from banks or government organisations 🏦⚠️.

✅ Protect yourself:

❌ Never give out personal details, PINs, passwords, or bank information

❌ Never transfer money to a caller claiming it is a “safe account”

📞 End the call and contact your bank or organisation using a trusted, verified number

🚨 Bank scams are currently the most commonly reported. These typically involve a caller pretending to be from your bank, claiming there is fraud on your account and asking you to move money or provide sensitive details. Your bank will never ask you to do this.

👵👴 Please check on elderly family members and neighbours and remind them:

Not to answer calls from numbers they don’t recognise

Never to share personal or financial information
