A motorist who hurled rubbish out of his car window into the path of a police vehicle has been reported for a traffic offence.
Residents tell police they are worried and appalled at the standard of driving by some motorists in our community.
They say they are shocked by the number of near misses on rural roads and the unsafe sight of people using mobile phones at the wheel. Several locals have also expressed umbrage at the presence of motorists carelessly hurtling through zebra crossings, putting pedestrians at risk.
Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) have listened to these genuine concerns and officers frequently patrol known hotspot locations in our community.
On Wednesday 8 April, your local officer observed a vehicle swerving in and out of lanes on a rural road.
The driver of the vehicle was also manoeuvring carelessly in traffic at busy road junctions. Bizarrely the motorist then elected to hurl rubbish out of his car window, leading to detritus landing in front of the police vehicle behind.
This anti-social behaviour and careless driving is not acceptable.
A marked police car, with ANPR technology, was deployed to the location – and the motorist was eventually brought to a stop.
The male driver was reported for a traffic offence, and also dealt with for his inconsiderate rubbish disposal practices.
Road safety remains a top priority for Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and officers will continue to conduct patrols and take proactive enforcement action – all helping to keep our community safe.
