I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Just a quick heads‑up to keep everyone in the loop.
We’ve had a reported house burglary in SOUTHBOURNE GARDENS (ON 8/04/26) involving a very committed “builder” look‑alike: Skinny build, orange high‑vis jacket, white hard hat, and a dust mask — the full DIY starter pack.
This gent was seen knocking on windows, clearly checking who was home. He later forced entry by breaking the garden‑side French patio doors… but plot twist — 🚨 the house was alarmed.
Safe to say his renovation plans were cut very short. No items have been reported stolen, yet (alarm systems for the win 🏆). A helpful neighbour then spotted him hopping over a fence before calmly strolling off towards Field End Road, trying to look like just another hard‑working tradesperson heading home for tea.
What to do if you spot him:
🚪 Don’t open the door 📞 Call the police if you see someone dressed like this knocking around suspiciously 👀 Keep an eye out for neighbours (especially if they’re out) or vulnerable.
Let’s keep Eastcote safe — and remember: real builders bring tools, quotes, and unavoidably loud radios… not mystery door‑knocking habits. 🛠️😉
While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you: Double lock your door every time you leave the house If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access. Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows. Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through. If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house. Make sure all valuables are out of sight. Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps. In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on. Set your burglar alarm Lock your shed or garage Mark, register or record your valuables.
