I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Dear Resident,
Thank you for taking the local priority survey recently, your ongoing feedback about local issues of concern is vital in order to enable us to target resources effectively. Although you did not raise Road Safety Issues as a concern in your last feedback, this issue has been raised by other members of your local area so we thought you would also like to receive this update.
You Said - We Did
We continue acting on the issues you tell us that matter most to our communities.
Officers from the Oswestry Safer Neighbourhoods Policing Team have dedicated time recently to look at recent concerns raised across the area regarding speeding.
* You Said – “What about Cockshutt. You will definitely catch some there!!!!”.
We Did – Officers attended Shrewsbury Road in Cockshutt near to the Millennium Hall entrance with the TruCam speed detection device to enforce the speed limit of 30mph. During their time at the location no vehicles were observed exceeding the speed limit.
Speed surveys and enforcement is conducted in Cockshutt at both the Millennium Hall section and by the telephone exchange on Shrewsbury Road, every month, these results are sent through to the Parish council among the reports they receive relating to the local priorities.
* Cockshutt also has a community speed watch group who do a fantastic job and are in contact with the local SNT.

You Said – “Grange Road in Ellesmere is a 30mph…. however, we frequently see drivers clearly exceeding the limit”.
We Did – Officers attended Grange Road with the TruCam speed detection device to enforce the 30mph speed limit in place. Whilst at the location 5 vehicles were recorded as exceeding the speed limit.
Grange road is attended every month by local SNT officers, where surveys and enforcement are conducted , these results are sent to the parish council along with a monthly report relating to the parish priorities.

Whats Next? - Further patrols which will include speed surveys, education and speed enforcement will take place at locations raised as a concern. - Locations visited at varied times to keep enforcement effective and unpredictable. - Further updates will be communicated to our communities about our work carried out tackling their concerns raised.
