Engagement Activity – Ilford Town Safer Neighbourhood Team

On 4th April 2026, Police Community Support Officers from the Ilford Town Safer Neighbourhood Team conducted a community engagement stall outside the Ilford Exchange, opposite Metro Bank.

This was a particularly busy and successful engagement, with officers consistently interacting with a high volume of members of the public throughout the event. The primary focus of the engagement was to provide advice and reassurance around mobile phone safety and general crime prevention.

Officers delivered key messages on how to reduce the risk of mobile phone theft, including being aware of surroundings, avoiding displaying phones in public spaces unnecessarily, and taking preventative measures to secure devices. In addition, wider crime prevention advice was shared, tailored to concerns raised by local residents, shoppers, and nearby market traders.

The engagement was very well received, with both members of the public and local market stall holders expressing their appreciation for the visible police presence and proactive approach. In particular, PCSO Sethi and PCSO Khan were praised for their professionalism, approachability, and commitment to community engagement.

This event highlights the ongoing dedication of the Ilford Town Safer Neighbourhood Team to engage with the community, provide reassurance, and support residents and businesses in keeping themselves safe.
