Protecting your mobile phone against criminals on bikes and mopeds 🛵
Criminals often use bikes and mopeds to snatch phones from people, particularly at busy locations such as outside stations, shopping centres or concert venues. Follow our tips to help protect your phone:
📲 Be aware of your surroundings - look up and stay alert, especially for bikes or mopeds nearby.
📲 Keep phone use brief so you’re not distracted, and avoid texting whilst walking.
📲 If you need to stop, stand close to a wall/building, away from the roadside.
📲 Use hands‑free options to avoid having your phone snatched.
📲 Set up keypad lock or biometric security (fingerprint/face ID).
📲 Enable features that allow you to lock, wipe or track your phone.
📲 Know how to identify your phone if it’s stolen - find your IMEI by dialling *#06# and keep it written down.
📲 Register your device on an accredited property database.
