Buy Now, Pay Later - The Consequences of purchasing Cannabis online.
Dear Residents;
We are all aware of the damage that drugs do to our communities.
On behalf of the Home Office, Greater Manchester Police has launched the ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ campaign, which aims to tackle the issue of purchasing cannabis online by raising awareness and highlighting the consequences it carries.
Cannabis ordered online often comes from abroad via Fast Parcel and Post (FFP) - packages sent into the UK from overseas - and typically contain illegal drugs or weapons.
Purchasing cannabis through FPP is a serious importation offence, and those who participate face penalties as well as detrimental consequences to their employment, travel, and education.
GMP, alongside the home office, border force and Royal Mail are moving to tackle this emerging crime trend. Members of the public are encouraged to share intelligence, which remains vital in disrupting criminal networks. GMP and partner agencies are committed to safeguarding vulnerable people who are victims of crime or at risk of committing offences.
Intelligence is the lifeblood of modern policing, anyone with any information is encouraged to contact police directly on 101, online at www.gmp.police.uk, using the reply button on this email or you can also report anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the Crimestoppers Website crimestoppers-uk.org. Please don’t underestimate the significance of any information you hold however small or insignificant it may appear – the piece you hold may be the final piece in the jigsaw. Please don’t assume we already know, or someone else will tell us.
