Officers attending incident in Stockport |
Earlier today, officers were dealing with an ongoing incident when a vehicle approached and the driver sounded his horn at police. This behaviour caused unnecessary disruption while officers were carrying out their duties and managing a situation. The vehicle was stopped a short distance away. Checks revealed that the car was also displaying an illegal number plate that did not comply with UK registration mark regulations. The driver was issued with a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) for the illegal number plate. Appropriate enforcement action will now follow. We would like to remind drivers that sounding a horn without proper reason can cause distraction and risk to both officers and the public—especially when police are dealing with an incident. Number plates must also comply with legal standards so that vehicles can be clearly identified.
Thank you to the members of the public who continued to give officers space to safely manage the scene.
A special well done to PC 01470 for acting swiftly.
