🎉 Over £200K taken from criminals to fund crime prevention activity

Matthew Barber (Police & Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley) and Jason Hogg (Chief Constable, Thames Valley Police) have awarded £201,077 to 47 community and voluntary organisations.

With 287 applications submitted for over £2m of funding to the first round of this year’s Community Fund, 47 organisations have successfully been awarded funding of between £500 – £7,000. 

The Community Fund provides bi-annual funding for voluntary and community groups that support the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan key priorities. Money for the Fund is created from the proceeds from the sale of items seized from criminals that cannot be returned to their rightful owners.

Matthew Barber said: “Amongst the wide range of applications received, we have provided funding to community and voluntary organisations who are focused on tackling a range of key policing priorities including security improvements including CCTV, supporting diversionary activities for young people and improving road safety.

“By allocating this funding to organisations working in these areas, we are demonstrating that both my office and Thames Valley Police are working hard to make our communities safer."

Jason Hogg said: “This funding supports community and voluntary organisations to run projects that play an important role in preventing crime and protecting our communities.

“I look forward to meeting successful applicants at our presentation event in Oxford on Friday 8 May.”

Successful recipients have been invited to attend a presentation event, hosted by the PCC and Chief Constable, in Oxford on Friday 8th May 2026.
