Dear Residents, March has been a busy, colourful, and community‑focused month for us, so we wanted to share a few quick highlights of what we’ve been up to. Thank you to all Kingsthorpe residents, students, businesses and community groups who’ve chatted to us, waved to us on patrol, or worked with us this month, we really appreciate it.
Week 1: Holi Celebrations We kicked off the month in a shower of colour at the local Holi festival! It was brilliant to join in for the celebrations, meet new faces, and enjoy a joyful community event. We are definitely still finding bits of paint on our uniform but it was a pleasure to take part in such a wholesome religious festival. Week 2: Supporting Schools During the ‘School Wars’ Poster Issue When concerns popped up around the ‘school wars’ posters, we made sure to be a steady presence for the schools involved. Throughout the week we: Checked in daily with school staffCarried out foot patrols at key times Spoke with students to reassure them and address any worriesThank you to the schools for working closely with us, it really helped keep everyone calm and informed. Week 3: Checking in on Vulnerable Residents This week focused on some of the most important but often unseen parts of our role. A number of visits were made to vulnerable residents and young people, making sure they have a trusted and familiar point of contact within the police. These regular check‑ins help us build positive relationships and spot any concerns early. We also visited individuals who had been regularly calling 999 without an emergency. We made sure they were safe, and provided information packs and posters to help them reach the right support services in the future. Week 4: Knife Crime Awareness & Shoplifting Surgeries A big week of prevention work! Knife Crime Awareness… Over two busy days, we spoke with around 1,400 students at Kingsthorpe College about: The real‑life impact of knife crimeThe law around carrying knivesHow to keep themselves and friends safeThe students were engaged, thoughtful, and asked great questions. Thank you to them and the school for having us. Shoplifting Surgeries… We ran, and will continue to run, several pop‑up police surgeries at local shoplifting hotspots. These gave us the chance to: Talk to members of the publicOffer crime prevention adviceReassure shop staff and provide a visible deterrentLooking ahead, we will continue being out and about as much as possible on foot around Kingsthorpe. If you spot us, please stop us for a chat as we’re always happy to talk. Thanks for being such a welcoming and supportive community.
Take care,
PCSO 7066 & 7196 Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team
