Drug dealing and anti social behaviour in Moira was an issue Regular patrols have been conducted consistently throughout the month, covering key areas identified as priorities for visibility and reassurance. Alongside this, proactive intelligence gathering has taken place on an ongoing basis, enabling the development of up to date local knowledge, early identification of emerging issues, and effective support for problem solving activity. Road safety around primary schools High‑visibility patrols have been carried out regularly around the local primary schools to provide reassurance to pupils, parents, and staff during peak times. During these patrols, several parents were engaged in relation to unsafe or inconsiderate parking practices. Officers provided advice around road safety, obstruction, and the impact poor parking can have on visibility and access. These conversations were conducted in an educational and supportive manner, with a view to improving compliance and promoting a safer environment for the school community. Licensed Premises Throughout the quarter, proactive engagement has been maintained with local licensed premises to support compliance, promote responsible management, and identify any emerging risks. Officers have worked with staff at the venue to establish the nature of the issues and identify those involved. The young people responsible have now been identified, and each individual has either already been spoken to or is scheduled to be engaged with in the coming days. They will be offered appropriate advice and guidance regarding their behaviour, the impact it has on the wider community, and the potential consequences should the behaviour continue. This early‑intervention approach aims to prevent further incidents, support positive choices, and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors to the leisure centre.
Illegal Use of E-Bikes/Off road motorbikes - We received a report of two young people riding illegal e-bikes in the Norris Hill area of Moira. In response, officers carried out targeted patrols to locate those involved and assess any immediate risk to the public. The individuals were subsequently identified and visited at their home addresses in the presence of their parents. During these visits, officers provided clear advice regarding the laws surrounding the use of illegal e-bikes, including the risks posed to both riders and the wider community. Parents were encouraged to support efforts to prevent further incidents, and the young people were reminded of the potential consequences should the behaviour continue. This engagement-focused approach aims to reduce harm and promote safer behaviour within the local area.
