Your proposed new neighbourhood watch in Wimbledon Park Road |
||
|
Dear Dan
I am so pleased to hear that you want to start a local Neighbourhood Watch (NW) scheme in Wimbledon Park Road.
Let me introduce myself, I am a volunteer for NW and also Deputy Chair of the Wandsworth Neighbourhood Watch Association (WNWA) to which your new scheme will automatically belong.
The scheme you have just created on the national database is not yet approved and visible to the wider world. Before it is, I need to find out a little more about your scheme. A few questions follow, just to help me understand what stage you have reached in establishing your scheme and to see if you need any help from us, your local association. There are no right or wrong answers - just a few words in reply to each question is enough.
General questions
2) Have you had any discussions with your neighbours about starting the scheme? 3) Roughly how many households do you think might join your scheme? 4) Do you have existing comms set up with your neighbours via, for example, a WhatsApp group? 5) Can you confirm that you are a resident and not a business?
Wandsworth specific questions / advice 6) Are you happy for me to share your contact email with your ward's Met Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) introducing you as the new coordinator? (The Data Protection regulations stop me doing this without your express permission). Also with Abbie Ball our neighbourhood watch liaison in Community Safety at Wandsworth Council? She needs to be able to contact you with regard in getting your street signs put up. 7) Would you like signs put up in your street advertising it as a NW area (free of charge)? 8) Would you like a supply of NW recruitment leaflets and window stickers - the latter would be for your known members initially and then can be given out to each new future member when they join. These can also be placed in cars as an added deterrent. 9) The WNWA has a WhatsApp ‘Channel’ which you may like to follow to receive updates on events and activities. If you are a WhatsApp user, the attached QR code will take you directly to the Channel on your smart phone. This is a one-way only broadcast channel and we use it very sparingly so you will not be bombarded with irrelevant messages. 10) Finally, please add these three email addresses to your contacts to prevent any bulk mailings going into your spam account: To send me your answers via the NW Alert messaging system, you can use the reply button below or, if your prefer, you can send me a direct email to wandsworthNWassociation@gmail.com. As soon as I have your reply and have approved your scheme, that will trigger an automatic ‘welcome’ pack of further information to be sent to you from the National NW team including an invitation to register for the NW Knowledge Hub - a dedicated resource for approved NW volunteers.
I look forward to hearing from you soon and don't hesitate to let me know if you need any further information at this stage.
Kind regards Sylvie Chrzanowska Deputy Chair, WNWA
