Monthly Community Update from Sgt Leon Allen – March 2026 |
||
|
Hello resident,
I hope this message finds you well. As we move through March, I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving.
March has been quite the difficult month on the Bordesley Green team. Staffing has been constrained with this being a month of training, annual leave but also abstractions to various operations and other departments. We have had to provide to Eid over on the Alum Rock road, where we got some really good results through many TPO10s but also an arrest of a male for possession of cannabis and offensive weapons, all through an eagle eyed spot of a driver with no seatbelt. We have also supported with St Patricks day. However the largest drain of our resources has been supporting with response policing. Despite uplifts, we still see demand outstrip resources. Due to the risk in live calls to the police, those pitfalls must be filled by other departments and neighbourhood policing is always the first to be used. I would like to think this will change into April however i am not certain. I am left with the use of a very small amount of officers to police our entire patch. You will have noticed our visibility drop but that is because i am having to use what i have in the areas that need it most or i may not have a single officer to patrol our neighbourhood. This is not ideal and i continue to argue on a daily basis to deliver a service that YOU deserve.
As an interim measure, PC Amar, one of DNOs will be stepping back slightly and PC Johnson who single handily books and delivers most of community events will be taking over as the Designated Neighbourhood Officer.
🔍 Local Priorities Our current focus areas include: Porters way was a priority area, however, i have made the decision to remove this as we aren't seeing the level of issues to warrant it being a priority area at this time.
Issues have long been raised around parking and we have always been out completing tickets where possible. We have continued this and are nearly at over a hundred tickets for the month.
We’re continuing patrols and targeted operations in these areas, and welcome any feedback or concerns you’d like to raise.
🤝 Partnership Working We’ve been working closely with: These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs.
📅 Important Dates We’d love to see you there—these events are a great way to connect and share ideas.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Stay safe and take care,
Sgt Leon Allen | ||
