Good afternoon everyone,
I hope you all are having a good week.
Following a few days off, I returned to duty yesterday (26/03/26), where it has been a really busy but productive couple of days.
Firstly, a warm welcome to everyone who has joined Staffordshire Smart Alerts over the last week or so – we are now reaching 1372 residents, which is fantastic! I have put the details of how anyone wishing to receive these emails can do so at the end of the e-mail. Please also find at the bottom of this e-mail the list of locations I have patrolled over the last two days, along with the details of the upcoming Police Street Surgeries.
Over the last couple of days I have attended a number of locations that residents have asked to be patrolled, such as today (27/03/26) I spent time on Diarmid Rd, to ensure vehicles are adhering to the no entry in place. Yesterday I also was present on The Lea at school finishing time, where I kept an eye on recent parking complaints. I am happy to report that I came across very few issues on The Lea, and no vehicles breached the ‘no entry’ on Diarmid Rd. With regards to school parking – where there have been issues of vehicles parking on yellow lines and or where there are parking restrictions, it is really important that reports are made to the Council Enforcement Team. These reports will help to show the true picture of the issues we are experiencing on the area, where I hope they will help to ensure more patrols by the Council’s enforcement Team. Reports can be made by calling 01782 234 234 or by completing the relevant referral form via www.stoke.gov.uk
Today (27/03/26) I attended Newhaven Gr, following parking concerns and I supported a local business in the area in identifying and addressing two customers who had been causing issues for staff.
‘Smart Alert Appeals’ – Crime reports.
Criminal damage/Burglary to business premises – The Lea We have received a report that on 25/03/26 at approximately 22:10 two males caused criminal damage to a business premises on The Lea. Following leaving the scene, the offenders returned, causing further damage, where they then entered the premises and stole property. They were said to of also interfered with a vehicle that was parked in close proximity to the store. At one stage, the offenders are said to have of gone in the direction of Kennedy Road. If anyone has any CCTV, Ring door bell or any other information that may assist our enquiries, please call 101 quoting serial 837 of 25/03/26.
Criminal damage to motor vehicle – Church Lane We have received a report that on 24/03/26 at approximately 01:38am, a brick was thrown at a vehicle, causing damage to the windscreen. The vehicle was parked near to the bottom of Church Lane. If anyone has any CCTV, Ring door bell or any other information that may assist our enquiries, please call 101 quoting serial 516 of 24/03/26.
Parking – Mayne St I have previously mentioned on past e-mails, where a number of residents had raised concerns regarding vehicles obstructing the pavement, outside of businesses on Mayne St, closest to Diarmid Road. Unfortunately I have yet to see much improvement. Over the past two days I have re-attended the location, where I have spent time speaking with residents and visitors, handing out parking awareness leaflets and also providing a poster re the parking to the businesses – who have been very supportive and understanding of the concerns. This picture was taken on 26/03/26,
It highlights how many of the vehicles are currently using the pavement at the front of the businesses as a car park, which it is not. When vehicles do this, they often block the pavement. This makes it difficult and often impossible, for pedestrians, mobility scooter users, wheelchair users, and those with prams and sight impairments to use the pavement safely. It also dangerous for vehicles to reverse out into what is a very busy road, creating risks for themselves and other road users. I will be liaising with the the Council/Highways to look at a long term solution to this issue, with the aim to create a safer environment for everyone. There is plenty of room to park directly outside of the businesses without need to use the pavement, as highlighted in this picture.
Please could I ask that when visiting this location, please do not park on the pavement, and utilise the many free parking spaces available along the street and in the near locality. Thank you.
Reports to the Council – Graffiti
Whilst on patrol, I did spot some offensive graffiti on Wilson Rd, junction with Kings Rd, which I have reported to the Council to have it removed. I made this report by visiting www.stoke.gov.uk
Priory SEND coffee morning
On Thursday (26/03/26) I attended the Priory CE Academy for their ‘SEND coffee morning’. This event has been held at the school for a number of years now, where the school brings together a number of fantastic agencies for members of the public to get advice help and support from. It was great to speak to residents and say hello to everyone who had attended from the various agencies. More of these events will be held in the future and once I have the details I will let you all know.
And lastly, yesterday I called into Hanford Manor Care Home,
where I spoke to a number of residents who were getting ready to have dinner. The Chicken Kiev's being cooked smelt amazing!! It was very nice to see everyone and I look forward to returning very soon!!
