Good afternoon
Apologies for the later email but I was up early marking bikes and then we had our Committee Meeting so it was all a little too busy for me to get this out first thing. I hope you are all doing marvellously. Its been a good week for Neighbourhood Watch with our first coordinator meeting happening on Wednesday, we had a lot more turning up than expected and it was great to meet you all, we look forward to a higher turn out for the next meeting, don’t worry Hugh has made some notes for you to read.
Anyway British Summer time is here this weekend, remember clocks go forward, body clocks have to wake up an hour earlier for rugby tournaments! Don’t get confused like some people!!! Anyway, less chitter chatter, more weekly updates.
Metropolitan Police Reward This comes straight from the Met Police and for those of you not on Met Engage you may be very interested in this. Also if you’re not on Met Engage do join, just take ten minutes to tick the correct correspondence boxes so that you don’t get told about everything!
£10,000 reward - Appeal for information on South Wimbledon vandalism We are appealing for information following a series of incidents which have caused over £100,000 of damage to public property in South Wimbledon. On multiple dates between March 2025 and February 2026 a number of lampposts have been cut down and equipment destroyed on Abbey Rd, Pincott Rd and the High Path Estate area. On a number of these occasions, two masked individuals driving a moped have been seen to cut down the lampposts. Investigations are ongoing, however due to repeated nature of the incidents and high value of damage caused, a £10,000 reward is being offered by local partners for any information that results in a conviction. If you have any information which may be useful, please don’t hesitate to report this online, or dial 101 and provide the reference of 01/7196135/26. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. £10,000 reward - Appeal for information on South Wimbledon vandalism - Member Area
AGM We are going to be mentioning this every week so whatever your doing stop, open your calendar, diary, reminders or whatever else you use to remind yourself of where your meant to be and stick the date in 12th May at 19:00. We need you there, you are the lifeblood of this community, and we want to hear your views and opinions and we want to tell you ours. After Wednesday nights Coordinator meeting, we know how important this is to you. I’ve heard a rumour most years they provide wine as well, just saying! Email me to register your interest and also I can tell everyone that’s confirmed to enter using the back entrance and send directions.
Coordinators Meeting Saving the best till last, I’ll be quiet and pass on a message from our Chairman Hugh.
Mark and I were really pleased to meet around 15 Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators in Merton at the Civic Centre on Wednesday evening. It was great to put faces to names. We agreed to stay in touch and discussed how we can keep building communities in Merton. If any of you couldn't make that meeting or didn't hear about it, please do let Mark know. We will invite you next time. Also, a plug for the AGM on 12 May. Our intention is that this will also be an opportunity for all of us keen to build Neighbourhood Watch in Merton to meet and discuss ways of supporting each other. One Last question….. Is the weekly email to much or not enough. If you think I should go to fortnightly so I can get more valid information out there or are happy with a weekly email? Drop me an email and politely let me know!
With that, have a great weekend. Please email me over any questions and I’ll try and reply with a good answer.
Warm regards
Mark Robinson
