Dear Resident, Following recent reports of antisocial behaviour in the cemetery off Audley Avenue in Newport, the Safer Neighbourhood Team have increased patrols at this location.
Following a further report yesterday evening (26th March 2026), we attended and had grounds to search two teenagers located in the cemetery. One of those teenagers was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and positive action is being taken in relation to that offence.
Whilst we appreciate that young people often want somewhere to go that is out of the way to meet with friends, we will deal robustly with anyone found behaving in such a way. Antisocial behaviour can cause significant harassment, alarm and distress to local communities, particularly when it is persistent in nature. If you experience or witness any antisocial behaviour, we encourage you to report that to us here⦠Report antisocial behaviour | West Mercia Police We would encourage parents to have conversations with any teenage children about the impact that antisocial behaviour can have on the wider community. We all have a part to play in tackling antisocial behaviour, and it is only by working together that we can reduce the impact it often has.
Kind regards, PC Rich Edward Newport Safer Neighbourhood Team. |
