Live Facial Recognition Deployment – Ilford Town Centre

Today, officers from Ilford Town Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out a joint patrol with other local officers and were deployed in Ilford Town Centre as part of a Live Facial Recognition (LFR) operation.

These operations are carried out to prevent crime, locate wanted individuals, and improve public safety. Previous deployments in Ilford have shown this to be an effective policing tool.

As a result of today’s operation, three arrests were made, which are currently being processed.

We understand that members of the public may have questions about this technology, and officers are always happy to provide further information during deployments.

We will continue to use a range of policing tactics to keep Ilford Town Centre safe for everyone.
