|
We are saddened to report that two people have died following a multi-vehicle collision which happened on a section of the A157 close to Grimblethorpe, Louth on Sunday 15 March. The collision occurred on a straight section of the A157 just after Gayton le Wold, heading towards Louth. A 79-year-old woman from Mablethorpe and a four-year-old boy from Birmingham sadly lost their lives following the four-vehicle collision involving a Blue Peugeot 108, a grey MG 1300, a white BMW X3, and a black Volvo XC60 – and a fifth vehicle which also sustained collateral damage. The woman, who was the driver of the grey MG 1300, was taken to hospital but died in hospital a day later. The little boy, who was a passenger in the Black Volvo XC60, passed away on Monday 23 March. Investigators have carried out multiple lines of forensic enquiry, however Lead Investigator, Detective Sergeant Melissa Ablitt, is keen to understand more about the sequence of events that preceded the collision. She would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has CCTV, dash cam or other recorded footage that may have captured either of those vehicles prior to the collision itself. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation, and who hasn’t already spoken with us, is asked to email SCIUinvestigators@lincs.police.uk or call 01522 212316, please refer to ‘Incident 279 of 15 March’ in the subject line.
