||
|
Yesterday (Tuesday 24 March), officers arrested a teenage boy in connection with the alleged theft of a moped from an address on Newtown Road, Eastleigh. The incident was reported to have occurred between 8pm on Monday (23 March) and 8.30am yesterday. Less than two hours after the alleged incident was first reported to us, officers from the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) and Roads Policing Unit (RPU) were on Leigh Road and completing proactive patrols when they spotted a moped matching the description of the one reported stolen. They quickly caught up with the rider and moped. A 17-year-old from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He has since been released on conditional police bail, pending further enquiries, as our investigation continues. The moped, confirmed as the one reported stolen, has since been returned to a very happy owner.
The NET and RPU also combined for another arrest yesterday morning, this time on Kestrel Road, Eastleigh. Shortly after 11am, a 27-year-old man from Eastleigh was detained on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B. The arrest followed the stop and search of a vehicle, during which cannabis was also located and seized. For the suspected driving offence, the arrested man was released on conditional police bail, pending further enquiries. He was released under investigation in connection with the second suspected offence. *Search completed under S.23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act
