Cold Callers UPDATE

Dear Residents of Burn Valley Ward,

I am writing to provide reassurance following recent activity within your area.

Over the past 48 hours, I have visited more than 50 properties across the ward and delivered over 200 ‘COLD CALLER’ reminder cards through letterboxes. These cards are designed to support your safety by providing clear guidance on how to respond when someone knocks at your door unexpectedly, and the steps you can take before opening it.

This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard residents and raise awareness around doorstep safety. We encourage everyone to take a moment to read the information provided on the card and keep it accessible for future reference ideally sticking them in an accessible window as they are double sided.

Please remember that you are under no obligation to open the door to anyone you are unsure about. Always take the time to verify who is there, ask for identification, and if in doubt, do not engage. If you feel concerned or suspect suspicious activity, report it to the police.

Your safety remains our priority, and we will continue to carry out proactive work within the community to support and protect residents. Rest assured if I have missed anyone out then please respond letting me know and I will deliver one to your address also!
