General AdviceUse theft‑resistant number plate fittings.Park in well‑lit, overlooked areas or Park Mark–approved car parks.Keep electronic keys in a security pouch.Fit locking wheel nuts.
Cars and VansDo not leave valuables on display.Keep keys and fobs out of sight at home.Always lock doors and windows.Use alarms, immobilisers, steering locks and gear locks.Make sure folding mirrors have closed when locking the vehicle.
Motorcycles and MopedsStore in a garage, shed or secure bike store.Fit an alarm, immobiliser, tracking device, and property marking.Lock to a ground anchor and use a disc lock.Do not rely on the steering lock alone.Use a bike cover.
Plant MachineryRemove keys and secure machinery to immovable objects.Fit immobilisers and tracking systems.Keep accurate records including serial and registration numbers.
Goods Vehicles and LorriesRemove valuables, lock the vehicle and set the alarm.Plan routes and avoid isolated parking areas.Keep the vehicle locked even during short stops and carry out visual checks before driving off.
Catalytic ConvertersAsk your dealer about approved locks or guards.Park in a garage or well‑lit, overlooked area.Mark and register your converter with a forensic marking kit.
