Stolen Motorbike Recovered PC Curtis and PC Robson assisted Durham Roads & Armed Policing with an incident involving two males acting suspiciously on a motorbike. Checks confirmed the bike was stolen. With support from our “eyes in the sky” and Traffic Officers, the pair were quickly located after ditching the bike and attempting to hide in a house — both were arrested. Enquiries are ongoing.Vehicle Enforcement Officers have been working closely with Durham County Council Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens - North to remove a number of vehicles from the streets that were either being driven or have been parked without valid MOT, tax, insurance.PCSOs Walker and Connah seized an off road bike which had been sighted causing a nuisance in Consett Town Centre, the bike was quickly abandoned upon sighting officers. Further CCTV enquiries in the area had also sighted the bike earlier in the day weaving in and out of traffic on the main roads and riding on the pavements at speed which could have potentially quite easily caused an accident either with another vehicle or even worse a pedestrian. We will continue to seize such vehicles at any opportunity to prevent any potential accidents from occurring. Wanted Individuals PC Curtis and Robson arrested x2 males who were wanted for failing to appear at court. Both males were taken straight to custody where they will be charged.Community Engagement PC Fallows and PCSO Burnip, alongside our Chief Constable and Police Crime Commissioner attended the Just For Women group and carried out a walk around Consett Town Centre to discuss ongoing concerns in the area.PCSOs Burnip and Mckenna along with PC Robson and Fallows attended the Derwentside College Careers Fair along with their local Community Safety Coordinator. It was a great opportunity to meet so many of the students who have an interest in the current job opportunities the force offers. PCSO Dixon and PC Taylor attended a coffee morning at Hamsterley Mill Community centre, it was so nice to see and speak to you all. PCSO Hart along with our Community Safety Coordinator Tia and our Neighbourhood Wardens SW02 and SW75 attended a coffee morning in Burnhope.Supporting Vulnerable Residents PCSO Dixon has completed a Herbert protocol for a vulnerable person. High-Visibility Patrols Patrols have been conducted in Burnhope, Lanchester and in the rural areas to offer further reassurance as there has been an increase in farm burglaries, namely quads are being targeted.Mobile Phone Offences PC Robson and PC Curtis issued two tickets to drivers who were seen using their mobile phones while behind the wheel. Both will now receive 6 penalty points and a fine.Disqualified Driver Stopped Following information received, officers quickly responded to a vehicle entering Consett with a disqualified driver behind the wheel. With assistance from local CCTV operators, the van was stopped. The driver attempted to swap seats to avoid detection but was clearly observed by officers and CCTV. The male has been reported to court and the vehicle was seized.
