New law strengthening protections for sheep, cows and other farm animals

Did you know that a new law came in to force on 18/03/26 concerning dog attacks/worrying on livestock.

Farm animals in England and Wales will receive stronger protection from dogs under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act.

4 in 5 farmers have had their sheep flock attacked by dogs. The new law includes,

Increasing penalties from £1,000 to unlimited fines

Increased police powers

Providing clearer, tougher action to protect livestock and rural communities
