Suspicious activity Report Shifnal

Local officers have been out on patrol this afternoon after receiving reports of a potential rogue trader going door‑to‑door in the area offering grass‑cutting and garden services.

The male was persistent and was described as white male aged approx. mid-late 30s dark hair with a beard, driving a white transit style vehicle.

No money was handed over on this occasion and the male had left the area.

Please take the following precautions if you are ever in a similar situation.

Do not agree to work on the spot. Reputable traders do not pressure residents into immediate decisions or cash payments.

Avoid letting unknown callers into your home or garden. Speak through a door or window if you feel unsure.

Ask for identification and business details. Genuine traders will provide a company name, address, and written quote.

Never hand over cash upfront. Rogue traders often ask for payment before work is completed.

Look out for neighbours who may be more vulnerable. If you see someone being approached, check they’re safe.

Report suspicious behaviour. If someone refuses to leave, becomes aggressive, or you feel threatened, contact police on the appropriate non‑emergency or emergency number.
