🚨 Catalytic Converter Theft – How to Protect Your Vehicle Catalytic converter thefts are increasing locally. These parts are targeted because they contain valuable metals. Please consider the following steps to reduce your risk:
🔒 Parking & Awareness Park in well-lit, busy areas whenever possible If at home, park close to your house or under CCTV Avoid leaving your vehicle in the same isolated spot for long periods 📹 Security Measures Install or make use of CCTV or doorbell cameras Consider a motion-activated light near your parking area Set your car alarm to activate on vibration (if available) 🔧 Physical Protection Fit a catalytic converter lock, clamp, or guard Some garages can weld the converter in place to make removal harder 🧾 Marking & Identification Have your catalytic converter marked or etched with your registration number Display a sticker showing it’s been marked (this can deter thieves) 🚗 Vehicle Choice Awareness Hybrid vehicles and some SUVs are more commonly targeted If you own one, consider extra precautions 👀 Stay Alert Be aware of people seen loitering under vehicles or acting suspiciously Report suspicious activity to police on 101 (or 999 if a crime is in progress) ⚠️ Signs of Theft Loud exhaust noise when starting your car A noticeable drop in vehicle performance Visible damage underneath the vehicle | ||
