Hi Resident
Residents are invited to attend a free bike registration event to help protect their bicycles from theft on Sunday 22nd March from 12:00 to 14:00 on Columbia Road, London, E2 7QB by the Birdcage Pub.
Officers from your local Safer Neighbourhoods police team will be on hand to register bikes on the national BikeRegister database and offer crime prevention advice.
What you need to know: - Just bring your bike – registration only takes a few minutes - Free of charge - No booking required – simply turn up - The BikeRegister database is used by all UK police forces, helping officers identify and return stolen bikes to their rightful owners
Why register your bike? - Only around 2–5% of stolen bikes are recovered if they are not registered - Bikes recorded on a registration database can increase recovery rates to around 15% or more – roughly three times higher
Registering your bike helps police quickly identify ownership if a bike is recovered and can also act as a deterrent to thieves. Bring your bike along and get it registered in minutes.
