County Lines Intensification Week: You Said We Did |
||
|
Dear Resident
Monday 2 March to Sunday 8 March, saw the return of County Lines Intensification Week in which officers in West Mercia seized over £1.5 million worth of drugs. This week of action aimed to tackle organised crime groups (OCGs) and the criminality they impose on our communities.
County lines is the name given to drug dealing where OCGs use phone lines to move and supply drugs, usually from cities into smaller towns and rural areas. This often goes beyond drug dealing and can lead to the exploitation of vulnerable people, including children and those with struggling with addiction, by recruiting them to distribute the drugs.
Criminals may also use a vulnerable person’s home as their base of operations, which is known as cuckooing, and often use violence and intimidation as a way of controlling them.
On Monday 2nd March, Brookside SNT carried out a drugs warrant at an address in Blakemore. A male was arrested on the suspicion of concern to supply drugs and has been released under investigation. Two mobile phones and a set of scales along with a small amount of Class B drugs were seized from the address.
You can help us deal with drug crime and the associated anti-social behaviour that goes with it. If you suspect someone is dealing drugs or involved in drug crime, you can pass on information via the ‘Tell Us About’ section of our website: www.westmercia.police.uk or you can phone 101.
If you aren’t comfortable contacting us directly, you can pass on information anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org
