We’re stepping up our efforts to keep Lancashire’s nightlife safe, enjoyable and crime‑free and we want you to know what we’re doing. 

We’ve teamed up with partners across the county to officially relaunch NightSafe, our ongoing crackdown on crime in the night‑time economy. The aim is simple: to make sure everyone can enjoy a night out without worrying about violence, intimidation or antisocial behaviour. 

As part of NightSafe, you’ll see high‑visibility patrols during busy times, as well as checks on door staff, robust licensing visits and quick enforcement action if it’s needed. We’ll also continue to support safety schemes like Ask for Angela and work alongside local street angels and street pastors. 

What’s new this year is the introduction of Project Vigilant, an extra layer of protection designed to keep the most vulnerable safe on nights out. This initiative focuses on identifying predatory behaviour before a serious offence happens. 

Specially trained officers, some in plain clothes, will be out and about spotting early signs of concerning behaviour. If they see something worrying, uniformed officers can step in straight away to prevent situations from escalating. The idea is simple: don’t wait for something serious to happen, spot it early and stop it. 

We know from recent feedback that many women and girls in Lancashire don’t always feel safe when out at night. By combining NightSafe with the added vigilance of Project Vigilant officers, we hope to give people greater confidence when heading out and make sure more offenders are held to account.

Everyone has a responsibility to make our streets safe at night. You can help us by reporting crime whenever you see it.

You can also report crimes on the Lancashire Police website.
