Over 400 arrests made in Met focus on drug dealing. - County Lines intensification week |
||
|
Earlier this month, we participated in a record-breaking week, tackling drug crime and violence within our communities. The surge of action came as part of County Lines Intensification Week, where police forces across the country join to tackle drug dealing, particularly targeting gangs who smuggle drugs in or across cities. Across London, the Met’s efforts saw 415 offenders arrested, 85kg of cocaine and heroin, and 72 weapons seized, as well as providing support and safety to many vulnerable adults and young people. These results highlight the strength of our partnership work and the determination across teams to protect communities, safeguard vulnerable individuals and relentlessly pursue those who exploit them. Here locally in Lewisham, we have been involved in ANPR (automatic number plate reader) Intelligence‑Led Operation - A2 / A20 / Kent Border. Intelligence‑led ANPR operation targeting County Lines transit routes across the A2 corridor, Kent border, and A20 arterial route. Sustained police presence between 1300–2200 hours across the corridor and wider SE BCU. This consisted of SE Proactive Uniform, MO7 Interceptors and NPAS (helicopter support). There were 3x arrests for driving offences, possession of Class A drugs, possession of an offensive weapon. Multiple pursuits of vehicles and mopeds attempting to evade police, and intelligence reports generated as a result. Significant disruption of movement patterns associated with County Lines runners, couriers, and nominals using road networks to enter/exit the BCU. Thanks Charlene
