Op Scorpion

We recently carried out a range of activity as part of Op Scorpion, a national initiative to tackle drug crime

As part of this, some of our team boarded trains travelling through Liskeard to deter people from transporting drugs on the railways and safeguard vulnerable people who may be exploited into carrying them.

Ultimately, we want to keep everyone safe and prevent crime from happening in the first place, and patrols like this play a key part in doing just that.

Op Scorpion activity across Devon and Cornwall saw:

17 people safeguarded (14 adults, 3 under 18)

17 people arrested

14 cuckooed addresses visited – where criminals take over someone's home to use it as a base for crime

1.5g of crack seized, 0.15g heroin seized, 2239.8g cocaine seized, 50g of cannabis resin seized

£12,013 in cash seized

7 weapons seized – including 4 air weapons, 1 knuckleduster and 1 telescopic baton

This work isn't a one off - activity like this happens throughout the year to tackle drug use and supply.
