Dear Residents, I am writing to update you on the action being taken in response to increased drug dealing and drug use around Denehurst Gardens. Thank you to everyone who has submitted reports and footage — this has been invaluable in helping us understand the issue and identify those involved. Tackling drug‑related activity requires a coordinated approach, and we are progressing work across several areas: 1. Enforcement and Offender Identification Officers continue proactive patrols, both in uniform and plain clothes, with priority given to known hotspots such as the area around the hotel. Although our Safer Neighbourhood Team is small, we are focusing resources where they are most needed. When we are off duty, the Emergency Response Team attends ASB reports based on risk and borough-wide demand. Last week, five Community Protection Warnings were issued following stop and searches, forming the first stage of a tiered enforcement approach.
2. Partnership Work With the Hotel/Hostel We are working closely with the management company to improve security and restrict unauthorised access to the rear car park and hot tub area. This includes reviewing physical measures and securing the rear gate. Ealing Council has also removed the abandoned vehicle at the front of the hotel, which we know had been attracting unwanted activity. A multi‑agency meeting held today with the management company, Ealing Council’s Safer Communities Team and the North Acton Safer Communities Team agreed next steps, and we are now engaging the landlord to progress security improvements.
3. Support and Diversion for Drug Users Alongside enforcement, we are increasing referrals to Operation ADDER, the Met’s drug intervention programme designed to support individuals away from drug use and reduce repeat offending. Residents can support our efforts by continuing to report all anti‑social behaviour. Use 999 if: • there is an immediate danger to life • violence is occurring or threatened • a road traffic collision poses a risk to life or blocks the road • a crime is in progress
For non‑emergencies, please report via 101 or online. To ensure reports are logged correctly and responded to, please avoid sending information to officers’ personal work email accounts, as these may not be seen promptly due to shift patterns.
Kind regards, George
