Keep Your Deliveries Safe – Parcel Theft Prevention Advice |
||
|
Dear Residents, Parcel theft, sometimes called “porch piracy”, is when delivered packages are stolen from doorsteps, porches, communal areas, or other unsecured locations before the intended recipient can collect them. This typically occurs when parcels are left in plain sight or when offenders follow delivery drivers and remove items shortly after they are delivered. Below are some simple but effective steps you can take: Arrange Secure Delivery Use designated safe places only if they are genuinely hidden from public view. Consider having parcels delivered to: A trusted neighbour Your work address A local parcel shop, Post Office, or locker collection point
Track Your Deliveries Use delivery apps or tracking links to know when your parcel is due. Opt for “deliver with signature” when possible, to avoid parcels being left unattended.
Improve Home Security Install a video doorbell or CCTV covering your front door/entrance. Ensure communal doors close and lock properly in flats or shared buildings.
Collect Deliveries Promptly Try to bring packages inside as soon as possible. If you are away, arrange for someone else to collect them on your behalf.
Report Suspicious Activity Please report anyone seen loitering around delivery vans, communal areas, or doorways. If a crime is in progress, call 999. For non‑emergencies, report to 101 or online via the police website.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our community safe. If you would like further crime‑prevention advice, please feel free to get in touch. Kind regards,
