Hoax 999 Calls |
||
|
Hi Resident, We have been receiving hoax 999 calls made by youths on Hyde town centre. Hoax 999 calls are a serious issue, wasting emergency resources and potentially endangering lives, with consequences including fines and imprisonment. When emergency services are tied up with hoax calls, they cannot respond to genuine emergencies, potentially putting lives at risk. We ask that parents/carers ensure they supervise their child's phone usage and educate them about the seriousness of making hoax calls. It is an offence to make a malicious or hoax call to the emergency services. Hoax callers could face a maximum penalty of up to six months in prison or a fine of £5,000. Regards, The Hyde Godley Team. | ||
