Weekly Round-up! |
||||
Good evening Resident,
I hope everyone has had a lovely week and you're ready to hear about the city centre teams exploits. I must admit it has been a bit of a quiet one and once again we are going into a Saturday night NTE shift so I'll drop a quick update regarding that next week.
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – A total of ten arrests were made this week by your city centre teams for various offences, so lets dive right in. Our first arrest this week was an individual being brought in for fraud, whereby they have had their property searched under Section 18 with the end result being a find of several fake bank notes and a laminator. Another individual was then arrested during the Section 18 search with links to the aforementioned fraud. A second individual has been arrested for several shop thefts within the city centre and also the outer sectors. Another individual was arrested for criminal damage after causing a disorder and breaking a window at the Moon under the Water pub. During our first NTE shift this week we had an arrest of an individual for drunk and disorderly and another for a breach of a court order, after they had self-presented at the front office of Wolverhampton Central Police Station. Finally, on Thursday evening 4 Juveniles were arrested in a slightly intoxicated state after a short foot chase. It had been reported that a Taxi Driver had been assaulted by these youths after he dropped them near their house but they refused to pay the fare.
Community Engagement – This week Team 1 and Team 3 have been busy little bees with their community engagement work. Team 1 started off the week hosting a Health and Safety talk at Wolverhampton Art Gallery to a group of around 20 people with some fantastic feedback. Team 3 held three crime prevention stands this week at locations including Asda, NatWest and the Bus Station. They found themselves busy as always handing out various leaflets and giving advice to anyone with questions for them. Team 1 were then at a new location within the Compton Care Café hosting a Cuppa with a Copper session, unfortunately i don't have much in the way of feedback from their event, but i can tell you that they very much enjoyed their time at the memory café this week at the Grand Theatre talking to many people that suffer with dementia and their families. They even got up on the dancefloor for a little workout.
Guardian Patrols – Nothing to report from our usual guardian patrols this week. No Servator, No Guardian Task Force and nothing exciting going on, just keeping the streets safe.
Night-Time Economy – A busy night for Team 2 during their first NTE shift, starting off with the lock up for criminal damage as mentioned above and moving into the night with multiple calls for service at differing nightlife locations throughout the city. Our team also carried out the usual licensing checks at all clubs and pubs to make sure correct procedures were being followed to create a safer environment for everyone during their evening.
Other News - Protests during the day on Saturday 7th created some unrest within the city with minor clashes between both parties as you may have seen on social media. Early morning arrests attempts carried out on Monday with no luck, both males were later arrested further into the week. With the assistance of our PCSOs, Mander Centre guards handed out banning orders to 3 juvenile females for causing disruption throughout the centre over a period of a week including disruptive behaviour within the centre and climbing up to the roof of the car park to throw items towards members of the public below. Thankfully a knife found by a member of the public on Victoria Street was quickly recovered and disposed of by PCSOs on the city centre.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you look forward to the next one!
