Op Galileo and Op Recall |
||
|
Op Galileo is a national policing operation to prevent and detect illegal poaching and hare coursing. With sunny weather today we have had reports on Rushcliffe of Hare Coursing and the associated criminal damage and trespass that comes with that crime. Those involved are linked to polycriminality engaging in acquisitive crime including rural thefts and domestic violence.
The suspects quickly left the area after being seen by officers at some distance, behaviour you wouldn't expect from a regular dog walker or someone with permission to be on farmland.
Op Recall is a project between partners from animal welfare, conservation and farming organisations. The aim is to tackle livestock attacks and worrying in rural areas.
With many sheep out on land as the peak of the lambing season in early spring approaches we'd like to remind people to keep dogs on leads and under control especially on farmland and near livestock. Areas of grassland and arable farmland may be used for grazing the presence of signs, electric fences, feeding trays or additional fencing indicate that there are livestock in an area so dog walkers should exercise additional caution.
If you experience crime it can be reported to police in Nottinghamshire on the details in the attached poster.
