Community Update – Al‑Quds Protest- 15th March 2026

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow, a static Al‑Quds Day protest will take place in central London following the decision by the Home Secretary to ban the planned march due to risks of serious public disorder. A number of Met‑imposed conditions have been publicly announced to ensure the safety of all communities.

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that:

The protest will be static and confined to the south side of the River Thames on Albert Embankment, while counter‑protests will be held on the north side at Millbank. The River Thames will be used as a physical barrier to keep opposing groups apart.

All demonstrations are restricted to 1pm–3pm, with activity limited to the area between Lambeth Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge, both of which will be closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles.

More than 1,000 officers will be deployed, including public order units, marine units, and neighbourhood officers. Police have stated there will be a zero‑tolerance approach to hate crime, and anyone displaying support for proscribed organisations will face arrest.

These conditions have been put in place to protect the public, reduce disruption, and prevent disorder.

Locally, I and two of my ward officers will be on duty throughout the day, engaging with residents, businesses, and visitors.
