Local Priorities Shoplifting Update

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Shoplifting, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Rachel YOUNG of No Fixed Abode is a prolific shoplifter with who has been committing offences within Camden for many years, early in 2026 following am Investigation by Camden Safer Neighbourhoods she was again convicted of theft and as part of this we applied for a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in order help prevent further offending.

We have now attended City of London Magistrates Court who have granted us a 3 year CBO banning her from the entire London Borough of Camden. If she does enter the borough she commits an offence and when prosecuted is likely to face an immediate custodial sentence.

Shoplifting is a crime that can have a substantial negative impact on local businesses across London. If you notice anything suspicious or witness anyone shoplifting, please report it as soon as possible. These reports are invaluable in letting us build a picture of when and where shop lifters operate, meaning we can be in the right place at the right time to arrest those responsible.
