Our Volume Crime Team (VCT) investigates frequent, lower‑risk offences that affect local people, and they oversee the safe, efficient processing of suspects in custody. Your VCT are continuing to focus on prolific offending that harms local shops and residents. Recent investigations in Lewisham have led to the following charge outcomes: Retail crime & CBO breaches: One prolific offender was charged with 46 offences (including 23 shoplifting and 23 breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order). Retail crime & CBO breaches: Two individuals were charged with 45 offences (including 30 shoplifting and 15 CBO breaches) following a review of linked incidents. Series offending: A suspect was charged and remanded for court in relation to 10 residential burglaries, 2 frauds, 18 thefts and possession of Class B drugs.Persistent theft: A further suspect identified for multiple offences was swiftly located and charged with 3 thefts, disrupting repeat harm to local businesses. What this means for Lewisham: By targeting repeat offenders and presenting strong case files to the CPS, we’re reducing repeat harm to local retailers and residents. We’ll keep working with the Council, retailers and community partners to prevent re‑offending and make public spaces safer.
