Good morning,
Yesterday the Mini Police of St.Mary's, Prestwich took part in a parking enforcement activity. Like most schools up and down the country inconsiderate and illegal parking was highlighted as an issue that the Mini's wished to tackle.
We set out to explain to drivers how bad parking can effect the community and compromise safety of the children. The MP's designed their own parking tickets and posters, then received a briefing from Inspector Edwards of Bury South Neighbourhood team. The MP's were a little nervous at first commenting how they felt awkward explaining to adults why their parking is not acceptable, however they gained confidence and those spoken with were positive and understanding.
We hope that this activity reduces the issue and makes drivers think about how their actions could cause problems. The issue will be monitored and the MP's will be back out in force again!
Consistent offenders will also be issued with a legitimate Traffic Offence Report should an obstruction occur, (yellow line offences will be dealt with via the council enforcement team.)
