Trentham and Hanford - Speeding operation today on Barlaston Old Road and Staffordshire Smart Alert Appeals

Good evening everyone,

From the many conversations I have had with residents, one of the most frequently reported concerns is speeding, with many residents raising Barlaston Old Road as a location that speeding frequently takes place. 

From the issues that you raise to myself I am sharing the information with other officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and other policing departments -  one such department is the Staffordshire Road Crime Team. 

Today (10/03/2026) the team completed an operation, covering Old Road Barlaston and Barlaston Old Road, Trentham. 

I have received an update from the Road Crime Team that 6 drivers will now be ‘considered for prosecution’ for going above 30mph, with one speed in particular being recorded as 48mph.

The team will be returning to these locations in the very near future. 

I just wanted to reiterate my thanks to everyone who has helped with the appeals. One of the fantastic things to of come from the system is the key information we are receiving from the public. I've spoken to many of you about my ambition to get as many people on this system as possible, which i then hope will help greatly with our ‘scene enquiries’ should a crime or incident occur. 

We continually see that the information you provide can assist greatly with our investigations. Whether it be CCTV, Ring doorbell footage, or something you or someone else has seen, absolutely get in touch - it all really does help!

With 1360 residents now on the system, by working together as a community, we will help create not just a safer Trentham & Hanford, but we will make it more challenging and harder for anyone wishing to engage in criminal activity here.
