Good afternoon everyone,
Suspicious incident – Caspian Gr
We have received a report that on 08/03/2026 at approximately 5am, a male was seen in the rear garden of a residential property at Caspian Grove. The male appeared to be reaching for a handle to a door to the property when he was possibly disturbed and then made off. The male did not enter the house and there is no report of damage to property or anything having been taken. I am not aware of any other reports in the locality and today I have been at Caspian Grove, speaking to residents and completing scene enquiries. If anyone has any CCTV, Ring doorbell or any other information that may help our enquiries, please call 101 quoting serial 739 of 08/03/2026 – thank you.
Rough sleeper – Constance Avenue I am aware that there is a rough sleeper, sleeping in a tent in the vicinity of Constance Avenue. I have spoken with him and have liaised with the Rough Sleeper Team, who have been out to visit him.
Canal and River Trust update I have received contact from the Canal and River Trust following contact I made with them raising the concerns of residents regarding cyclists travelling at speed along the canal. They sent the following…
“Our towpaths are shared spaces used by a wide range of people, including walkers, boaters, anglers, cyclists, families, and people with disabilities. Cycling is permitted on most towpaths, and we encourage it as a sustainable and enjoyable way to access and experience the waterways. However, cyclists must do so responsibly and in line with our Towpath Code (Our towpath code | Canal & River Trust) We recognise that some sections of towpath can be narrow or busy, and that cyclists travelling too quickly can cause concern for other users. For this reason, we ask all cyclists to ride considerately, keep their speed down, give way to pedestrians, and be prepared to slow down or stop where necessary. Our guidance is that cyclists should travel at a gentle pace and always prioritise the safety and comfort of others. Where we receive reports of persistent unsafe behaviour, we review the location and consider whether additional signage, engagement, or other measures may be appropriate. While we do not have enforcement powers in the same way as the police, we do work with partners where necessary to address ongoing issues. I will pass your concerns onto our National Towpaths Advisor to see if there is anything else we can do and get back to you in due course”.
Should anyone wish to contact the Canal and River Trust to discuss this or any other issue, they can do so by e-mailing… enquiries.westmidlands@canalrivertrust.org.uk
Crime Prevention home visits As I had mentioned in my previous e-mail, I am absolutely dedicated to making it harder and more challenging for anyone wishing to commit crime on our area. One way I wish to accomplish this is through Crime Prevention Home visits. If anyone would like a home visit to discuss CCTV and other crime prevention methods, please reply to this message with your home address and a contact telephone number and I will be in touch.
